Formstack HIPAA Compliance allows customers to maintain compliance, eliminate hours of manual data entry, increase accuracy of data

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 11, 2016)Formstack, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company that helps businesses manage information and automate processes through a suite of powerful online form tools, announces its newest form product, Formstack HIPAA Compliance.

Designed to streamline healthcare workflows and function as a lean electronic health record on its own, Formstack HIPAA Compliance allows customers to manage forms across multiple touchpoints, including doctors, administrative staff and other stakeholders. This cloud-based data capture tool provides easy and rapid creation of secure, digital forms that collect and store electronic protected health information (ePHI) in compliance with both the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH).

“HIPAA guidelines require a series of administrative, technical and physical safeguards that ensure the integrity and confidentiality of electronic protected health information,” said Chris Byers, CEO of Formstack. “For healthcare organizations and top hospitals—many of which already use our form creation and data capture tools for non-sensitive data—Formstack HIPAA Compliance provides a compliant, accurate solution for collecting and storing records, and it can eliminate hours of manual data entry.”

With Formstack HIPAA Compliance, appropriate department personnel, including doctors and other stakeholders, can review form submissions via Formstack’s notification and workflow capabilities. Potential use cases include registering patients, gathering patient feedback, filing insurance and workers compensation complaints and managing appointment requests.

Formstack’s HIPAA compliant plans include the following benefits:

  • Signed business associate agreement
  • HIPAA and HITECH security encryption
  • Access controls, auditing and logging
  • Automatic timeout of user sessions after 15 minutes of inactivity
  • Internal data routing and digital approval capabilities

“As president of a large independent medical practice, I was looking for a solution that would allow us to easily create forms for new patient registration, secure communications, secure credit card payments and more. We needed a system that was easy to learn and use and that offered responsive customer support,” said Dr. Chris Bojrab, President of Indiana Health Group. “We identified a number potential solutions, but only Formstack offered everything we needed in a HIPAA compliant system that was cost-effective. A few other companies we found offered similar HIPAA compliant solutions, but they were literally about six to eight times more expensive than Formstack.”

Formstack’s Customer Success Team is available to help customers set up Formstack HIPAA Compliance in under an hour. Support specialists will also demonstrate best practices for maintaining data security, such as encryption of form submissions.
