Why do you want to serve with SBP?

Please provide a response to each of the following six questions. Each response should be no more than five sentences in length.

Serving with SBP’s AmeriCorps program will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. First time AmeriCorps members receive a monthly living allowance of $1,263 and serve 40 hours or more a week to bring disaster impacted families home. Please describe why you believe that the $1,263 monthly living allowance will adequately allow you to meet your needs during your term of service with SBP.*

In three to five sentences, please describe why you are choosing to pursue a term of service at this point in your life/career, and what specifically attracted you to SBP?*

SBP’s mission is to shrink the time between disaster and recovery. While we are rebuilding homes, we are unable to provide housing for our homeowners or our AmeriCorps members. Please describe what type of housing options you plan to pursue during your term of service.*

SBP does not provide transportation, and in many of the locations we serve your access to public transportation will be limited. Please describe what transportation you will rely on to be present at your service site at 8am each day.*

Although your AmeriCorps term of service with SBP will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life, it will also very likely be one of the most challenging experiences as well. What do you believe will be some of the greatest challenges that you will face while serving with SBP? What strategies will you utilize to help you adjust to these challenges?*
