4 Reasons Emma’s Marketing United Rocked

Marketing United is a digital marketing conference held in Nashville, Tennessee and hosted by the awesome folks at Emma. This year was Emma’s second year holding the conference, and Formstack was an exhibiting sponsor for the first time. There were many benefits to being an exhibiting sponsor at Marketing United. We were able to connect with potential customers and partners; share and soak in knowledge from industry experts; and enjoy three nights of good music, good beer, and good company.

This year the conference did not disappoint. Here are the top reasons I think Marketing United rocked.

Reason 1: Great Content

With keynotes from industry influencers such as Scott Stratten, Anne Handley, and Jay Baer and breakout sessions with brands like Moz, Eventbrite, and Wistia, the content at Marketing United was phenomenal. “Digital marketing” is a broad theme, but Emma did a great job of including content to cover the full spectrum of disciplines that fall under the marketing umbrella. This year featured talks around social media, content marketing, email marketing, demand generation, video marketing, webinars, and other digital marketing topics.

We were pleased to be invited to hold our own talk, which was given by Chris Lucas, VP of Partnerships at Formstack. You should be able to view the recording soon, but if you’d like to get a taste, we also had Ashley Walsh, Director of Marketing at Formstack, recap the talk in a webinar.

Reason 2: Location

Nashville. It truly is the “it” city. Nashville has become one of the fastest growing cities, particularly for millennials; and from my short, three-day experience, I can see why. The city is teeming with energy and culture, and it consumes you. There’s live music 24/7 at pretty much every restaurant on Broadway, and although I’m not much of a country music lover, I soon found myself tapping my feet and clapping along. Apart from the live music and great food, there’s also a ton of history and culture. Having the conference held in the Country Music Hall of Fame allowed for the opportunity to do some exploring. I got the chance to check out a vintage letterpress shop that was located just downstairs from the event location. It was awesome, and I ended up picking up a poster and my own “Hatch Show” shirt!

Reason 3: People Networking

People in Nashville certainly have the southern charm, and it tends to rub off. If you didn’t have a friend coming into Nashville for the conference, you certainly left with one. From an exhibiting sponsor’s point of view, I was particularly pleased with the environment created for networking at the event. With about seven or eight other exhibitors, the event hall wasn’t crowded at all, which was great for encouraging attendees to interact with all vendors—and even for the vendors themselves to network with one another. It also helped that Emma gave out free drink tickets to all the sponsors!

Reason 4: Parties!

Folks at Emma know how to party! Each day after the conference, attendees and partners were invited to get together for an evening of drinks and good times. The last party was held at Emma’s trendy HQ and featured a variety of locally brewed beers and finger food. And of course, in true Nashville fashion, there was a great live band and a bunch of awesome people to hang out with.
