Whether you’re new to form building and conversion rate optimization or simply need a refresher course, get up to speed by following these nine quick steps.
1. Customize your domain
Customizing your subdomain will allow you to brand your forms’ URLs. Adding your company’s name to the links you share with users is a great way to establish trust and be seen as legitimate.
2. Build your first branded theme
If you’re new to Formstack, the theme builder is about to become your best friend. This time-saving tool makes it easy to create templates that incorporate your brand’s logos, colors and more. You can use the in-app theme gallery, start from scratch or add custom CSS styles. Create a theme once and apply it to as many forms as you like!
3. Set your benchmarks
Whatever your goals may be—drive more orders, capture more leads, increase registrations—setting benchmarks early will help your team stay on track and ensure you’re getting a real return on investment. 4. Use our guides to build your first form
Whether it’s an event registration, lead generation form, student survey or another type of form, the Formstack blog is packed with tips and tutorials to make sure you maximize every form-building feature you need to create high-converting forms.
5. Set up integrations and plugins
Formstack accounts come packed with dozens of integrations and plugins—many of them so effective that companies are starting to use Formstack as an alternative to Survey Monkey, HubSpot and other costly platforms. At a minimum, be sure to sync every form with your customer relationship management platform and Google Analytics. Formstack also integrates with many other popular tools, including:
- Facebook and Google+ (through Social Autofill)
- Google Apps, from calendars and contacts to spreadsheets and storage
- Payment Processors (and with Conditional Logic, you can easily use multiple methods on the same form)
6. Promote your form.
Worried people won’t be willing to tear themselves away from other tasks to fill out your form? You’ll love the Facebook Tab Embed. This feature lets you publish your form right within a tab on your Facebook page, so your followers won’t have to leave their favorite social media site to fill it out. It takes social media promotions to a whole new level. You can also automate custom tweets to help spread the word. And be sure to feed submissions to your email marketing platform for future promotions.
8. Measure Conversions

9. Get comfortable with A/B testing
Hands down, this is the best way to ensure you’re getting real ROI from your forms. And it’s not nearly as scary as it may sound. Once you get the hang of it, many split tests take minutes to set up and deliver useful insights within days.
