I recently completed my junior year at Anderson University. As a public relations major, I have worked as an account manager for Fifth Street CommunicationsTM, AU’s student-staffed public relations firm. This year, I led a 13-person account team for the Office of University Communications, delegating and editing feature content for AU’s website and alumni magazine. Additionally, I worked as a contributor for our secondary client, the marketing team for “Blue Like Jazz the Movie.” My work with this client included contacting college leaders and campus activities boards to get universities interested in seeing this film, which premiered on April 13. Next year, I am returning as the student director of the agency, responsible for supervising the account managers, furthering the agency’s social media presence and meeting with potential clients.
Additionally, I was the PR director for AU’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter last year. This fall, I will be serving as the chapter’s vice president, and I am looking forward to working with the president to further grow our chapter.
In my free time, I love catching up with my friends over coffee or Chinese food. You can also find me Tweeting, Facebook-ing or Instagram-ing way too many pictures of my ridiculously spoiled cat, Vinny – he’s named after the main character in the movie “My Cousin Vinny,” not the character on “Jersey Shore.” I’m just putting that out there. Family is also really important to me. I was raised in Batesville, Ind., home of Batesville Casket Company and Hill-Rom Holdings. Caskets and hospital beds are a big deal around those parts. My family and I like to meet in Indianapolis and get dinner, shop or go to movies. My most random hobby is my love of backpacking. One of my life goals is to section hike the entire Appalachian Trail – I’ve already completed 30 miles of it! Only 2,150 more to go …
I love to connect with fellow PR students and professionals on Twitter. You should find me @evachristine09. Let’s talk!
