Since its inception in 1963, National Small Business Week is the time of the year to recognize the contributions of small businesses to our country. In 2011, National Small Business Week will honor the estimated 27.2 million small businesses, in America. Are you one of them?

Small businesses are major contributors to the strength of the American economy. More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business. Did you know they also create 60-80 percent of new jobs in the country?

At Formstack, we take pride in being a small business. We enjoy helping our customers on a daily basis and make sure their experience when working with our online web form builder goes smoothly.

Since it is National Small Business Week, we wanted to take the time to spotlight one of our own customers who provides a great and fun service: Covewater Paddle Surf.

Covewater Paddle Surf is a Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) shop located in Santa Cruz, CA offering SUP sales, rentals, and lessons. Stand Up paddling is the world’s fastest growing water sport and can be done anywhere on the planet where there is a body of water.

The owners and employees of Covewater Paddle Surf are all stand up paddlers. They have first-hand knowledge about stand up paddling and provide the equipment needed. Covewater offers classes for new paddlers, a board shop, and equipment rental.

Whether your small business is on water or land, take this week to celebrate who you are. If you are a boss or manager, thank your fellow employees. It’s important to let them know how important they are to the overall business.

America wouldn’t be here without small businesses, so go support one today!
