Formstack User Profile: Blue World Travel / Festival at Sea

Every now and again we will be highlighting how our customers are using Formstack, what they think of the service and what they want to see out of an online form building tool. In our first profile we had the pleasure of speaking with Art Forte of Blue World Travel, a travel agency and a long time Formstack user. Below is a brief overview of Blue World Travel and some Q&A on how they use the product.

Blue World Travel has been in business for over 25 years and have excelled in many different aspects of travel over the years. They began as a corporate agency handling reservations for large companies such as Dolby, Pacific Gas and Electric and Bechtel. Blue World Travel also focused on entertainment travel, working with clients such as the Doobie Brothers, Journey, and the Steve Miller Band. Being a minority owned business, their newest endeavor is chartering entire cruise ships and marketing them for resale to the African-American demographic.

FS: How did you hear about Formstack?

BW: Formstack turned up on a Google search, along with others. It was their superior customer support that was the deciding factor in using their services.

FS: How do you currently use Formstack?

BW: We use Formstack to collect different types of data from our customers. We take credit card payments online. We take reservations online. We also use Formstack for signing up passengers for the myriad of events we offer on our cruises.

FS: Any other ways you might use it?

BW: We are in the process of designing a questionnaire to gauge the different interests of our customers.

FS: How has Formstack solved a business issue?

BW: In a nutshell, they make it easy to have secure forms online. The design of their software allows for the simple building of forms, and I cannot recall a single time that their server has been down.

FS: What do you like best about the product?

BW: Reliability. And the fact that when a viewer uses a form created with Formstack, they can see the actual company name in the URL created. I think that gives them a sense of security instead of wondering where their information is going.

FS: What features do you find most helpful?

BW: The [Branching] logic feature is cool. Also, the CSV data collection method allows us to export the results into Access for further manipulation.

FS: What improvements to Formstack would you like to see?

BW: It can’t be topped, but the change from the red spring to the green spring was pretty sweet.

FS: Any specific features you would like to see?

BW: I’d really like to see “field titles”. Currently, when the table is created from the data collected, the headers show the entire “question”. So if we want to know from the customer the answer to questions such as “How many times have you traveled with Festival at Sea”, the column in the Excel file that is created reads “How many times have you traveled with Festival at Sea”. Well, if you have enough columns of that length, your form goes on forever. What I think would be extremely helpful is to allow an area for the “question” that the viewer reads, that coincides with a “field title” that can be entered when building the form, which will be utilized in the columns of the Excel file. In this case, we would simply put the word “frequency” in the field title. This will cut down on the length of the forms created with Formstack.

FS: Any other tips/tricks/words of wisdom you would like to share with others users?

BW: Use images in your templates that mirror your website! If your web pages have a banner or top border, use it in the form. It makes the transition from your server to the Formstack server more seamless, some folks never know they even left! It’s all good cuz it’s secure…. and it adds a professional touch to your hard work.
