On January 1, 2012, the Times Union will no longer offer the Source Card program to its Easy Pay subscribers. So that we may best serve your subscriber needs, below you will find answers to several questions you may have. Please note that the last question provides you with the information you’ll need to contact us, should you have further questions. Thank you for being a Times Union subscriber.

Frequently asked questions:

Q: Why is the Source Card program being discontinued?
A: In short, because of lack of interest. We found that of the nearly 100,000 subscribers who had access to the program, only a small percentage was actually using it regularly. In addition, it was getting increasingly difficult for us to offer unique discounts to Source Card members – discounts you couldn’t find anywhere else. Therefore, rather than offer you a product that wasn’t of complete value to you, we decided to stop offering the program.

Q: Will the Source Card program be returning in the near future?
A: We do not expect to bring back the Source Card. But, we are looking into developing a Reader Rewards program, that would give you special offers, contests and other unique benefits for being a Times Union subscriber. If you have suggestions about what you’d like to see in that program, please enter them below.

Q: Why should I remain an Easy Pay subscriber?
A: There are several reasons we believe Easy Pay is beneficial to you. First, there is no need for you to worry about the bill, as it is paid automatically from your checking account or your debit or credit card each period. As the saying goes, you can just “set it and forget it.” There’s no need to worry about if you’re going to have your subscription stop, or to write a check (or go on-line to pay the bill). It gets paid each month on the credit card you provided to us. In addition, over the course of the 2012 calendar year, we will be having special promotions that will only be available to Easy Pay subscribers. We don’t know what all of those promotions will be, but you can expect that discounts to local events and special contests will be included in the program.

Q: What should I do with my current Source Card?
A: Please feel free to discard it, as it will no longer be valid at the locations that previously accepted it.

Q: Can I order a new Source Card?
A: Because the program is being discontinued, we will no longer be providing Source Cards to subscribers who are part of our Easy Pay program.

Q: How can I contact the Times Union with further questions or concerns about the Source Card program?
